Sea levels are rising, but at least we have this tiny paper boat

This blog is about everything Dill Comics, art, and being the captain of a ship in need of constant repair. Years ago (circa 2007) I made a Google Sites called googlesites.dillspage.com or some URL to that effect. It was so much fun. The best part about it, was I took it extremely seriously.

We’re getting pretty close to a new year as I write this, which is exciting. It’s usually around the time when people would start a blog. At some point in my drawing life, I took the taking things seriously further than I’d like to and tried to make the site look sleek and professional, hoping to attract new business. It honestly took away from the point. Dill is an embarassing kid. If you were sitting next to him in class, you’d be cringing the entire time. He is virtually never cool, and almost totally oblivious to how others perceive him,. It’s what makes to the character fun (to me).

Lately, it’s been hard to find the time to keep up the website because I have to go to work and restock copy machines with paper. Ironically, my bread job has nothing to do with art, but involves unbelievable amounts of paper. The amount of staples I remove on any given day would be enough to fuel a small, staple eating robot for weeks at a time. This is not a complaint (in case any of my supervisors got completely lost and stumbled into here), it is just a true statement. It might seem like this work is easy, if not slightly tedious. You are wrong. These staples can be very aggressive, even when unprovoked. So, as you can imagine, I return home after several long battles exhausted from the weight of their mighty strength. After dealing with this tenacious office supplies five days a week, I am too tired to sit a desk on the computer and type small words on a little keyboard. And yet, we must persist. Consider this the chronicles of Dill Comics, making things and more. Consider it an exploration of the internet and being a bit embarassing online.

It is with great pleasure that I invite you on a short journey aboard a tiny paper ship only barely floating atop our rising sea levels. There is ample lemonade on board. It is weighing the ship down a bit, but that okay because it is delicious indeed.

I’m going to eat a bowl of oatmeal now, see you later.
